3.3. Game Design Examples

Learning Objectives

When you have finished section 3.3, you should be able to:

  1. Explain what mini design and complete design are, and outline their differences.
  2. Describe important aspects of a complete game design.
  3. Document a game design in a professional manner.
  4. Look analytically at a sample game design.

Required Tasks

  1. Study pages 612-630 of Chapter 17 in the eTextbook.
  2. Study carefully the sample game design document found in that section.
  3. Revise the TREK game design to utilize today's advanced technology: high CPU speed, larger memory, higher display resolution, etc.
  4. Complete the Chapter 17 quiz, and check your answers in Appendix A.

Optional Tasks

  1. Share your revised TREK game design with your fellow students using the General Discussion Forum.

    OR

  2. Collaborate with your fellow students to work out a design for a new game.
